A Study in Coastal Wedding Florals at The Ritz Carlton Bacara | Alpha Floral

Located on a cliff above the Pacific, The Ritz-Carlton Bacara is a 78-acre oceanfront resort on the Gaviota Coast. For a styled wedding at the resort, Alpha Floral designed arrangements in shades of blush, mauve, cream, and deep wine. The resort’s red-tiled roofs and Mediterranean-inspired architecture provided a warm backdrop, and our team designed the florals to feel as though they had grown naturally in the setting. 

Alpha Floral designed the ceremony installations, the bridal bouquet, and the reception centerpieces. The same signature blooms appeared throughout the day in varying arrangements, creating a cohesive look from the oceanfront lawn to the dinner table 

Our Approach to a Coastal Wedding

The ceremony florals were arranged in low, sweeping mounds that seemed to “grow” up directly from the grass. Asymmetrical arrangements lined the aisle and grew fuller toward the ocean-facing altar. Cream roses stood out among pink snapdragons, burgundy dahlias, green hydrangeas, and bells of Ireland, while Queen Anne’s lace and trailing amaranthus added softness and movement. The low arrangements kept the coastline in view, allowing the flowers and ocean to share the scene.

The bridal bouquet featured a soft palette of cream and blush roses, white ranunculus, spray roses, and stock. Loosely gathered and tied with frayed cream ribbon, it complemented the lace gown without introducing an intimidating color. The delicate petals felt right at home in the warm, late-afternoon light of the portraits. 

A Tablescape in Wine and Blush

At the reception, long tables featured full, low centerpieces arranged in white ceramic bowls. Burgundy dahlias, blush roses, pink ranunculus, and green hydrangeas filled out the arrangements, while dark astrantia and trailing greenery gave them a looser, garden-inspired feel. Smaller bowls held ranunculus, hellebores, sweet peas, green berries, and moss, adding delicate details closer to the table. Wine-colored chiffon runners and linens by BBJ La Tavola complemented the flowers, alongside mauve velvet napkins and gold flatware. A blush bloom tucked beside each menu card added a simple floral touch to the place settings. 

The Alpha Floral Experience

Alpha Floral has served Santa Barbara since 1935. Owner Cassie Macias has led the shop since 2022, continuing its focus on handcrafted floral designs and fresh, seasonal blooms. Our team sources flowers from around five farms between Carpinteria and Santa Ynez, prioritizing locally grown stems cut the same day when possible and supplementing with imports when needed.

That knowledge of local flowers also informs how the Alpha Floral team approaches outdoor events. It’s our attention to each flower and its surroundings that helps us create arrangements that feel at home in Santa Barbara’s coastal landscape.
